Water for Sale - Health

Water for Sale

An object that has become a matter of convenience to man and nuisance to nature - packaged drinking water. It is more convenient to buy ‘purified’ packaged drinking water than carry boiled water from home in a reusable bottle of stainless steel or glass when we are on the go. We consume bottled water thinking it is pure. But the reality is that the safety and purity of packaged water is still a questionable topic. Media has every now and then reported on scientific studies proving the presence of hazardous chemicals in popular brands of packaged water. But still some of us, who select our clothes and shoes after Water for Sale careful deliberations, do not pay much attention to something as basic as drinking water.

Most of the packaged water available in the market is not ISI certified. However, even an ISI mark on bottled water has lost its relevance as it does not guarantee the purity of water. If media reports are to be believed nearly 20-30% of the ISI-certified brands defy standards when checked after a year or so. Scientific tests have revealed that some of the brands contain pesticides, insecticides and bacteria. The long-term use of contaminated water can be the cause of a number of diseases, some even fatal.
